OBERKOCHEN, Germany, Dec. 22, 2021 — The shareholders of Carl Zeiss AG appointed Michael Bolle as the supervisory board member to represent the sole shareholder, the Carl Zeiss Foundation. Bolle will be elected chairman of the supervisory board of Carl Zeiss AG in January 2022, succeeding Dieter Kurz, whose mandate as chairman of the supervisory board will end Dec. 31. Bolle will also take over as chairman of the shareholder council of the Carl Zeiss Foundation and will represent all shareholder interests of the foundation.

FORT PIERCE, Fla. — LASER-TEC co-principal investigator Jim Pearson will retire in January, to be succeeded by Alexei Glebov, president of the Florida Photonics Cluster. Glebov is also president and general manager of OptiGrate Corp, an IPG Photonics Company.  

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — SkyWater Technology appointed two members to its board of directors: Nancy Fares and Amy Leong, effective Jan. 3 for a term expiring at the company’s 2022 annual meeting of stockholders. The appointments bring the board membership to eight. Fares is a strategic adviser and board member with Olarm, an application-based home security provider. Leong is senior vice president, chief marketing officer, and general manager of the emerging growth business unit of FormFactor Inc.

SOUTHLAKE, Texas — OncoNano Medicine appointed Brett Giroir to the company’s board of directors. Giroir served as the 16th assistant secretary for health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, acting FDA commissioner, and admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. He also served as the U.S. representative to the executive board of the World Health Organization within the Department of State, and he was a member of the White House Task Force and the national lead for testing and diagnostics for COVID-19.  

GLASGOW, Scotland — Vector Photonics appointed Oleg Kowalski principal development engineer. Kowalski joined Vector Photonics from Sivers Photonics, where he was a senior development engineer. He was a founder-member and product manager at Intense Ltd., a startup acquired by CST Global in 2010.
