PerkinElmer Inc. of Boston has attained Raman spectroscopy platforms through the acquisition of Avalon Instruments of Belfast, UK. The technology will be made available to photonics markets such as sensors and specialty lighting and to health sciences markets, including genetic screening and medical imaging. Financial details were not revealed.
