In a cash transaction, PerkinElmer Inc. of Waltham, Mass., has acquired Improvision Ltd. of Coventry, UK, a manufacturer of 3- and 4-D cellular imaging software and integrated hardware for life sciences research. The American company intends to offer the technologies for use with its high-content screening and confocal microscopy systems.
