JENA, Germany, April 7 -- Jenoptik Infab has received an order for its advanced IridNet tracking system from Philips Submicron Semiconductor Technologies (SMST). According to Jenoptik CEO Wolfgang Mayr, the purchase is indicative of the semiconductor industry's growing interest in this innovative tracking system based on long-range infrared (IR) technology.
Philips said the decision reflects its belief in the technology and in Jenoptik Infab, which was chosen because of the IridNet system's long-range IR tag and sensor technology. The system will provide total work-in-progress visibility on racks, carts and tabletops as part of a strategic Philips SMST automation project.
