MERIGNAC, France, July 3, 2013 — Night-vision-sensor provider Photonis Technologies has formed a digital low-light imaging unit in Frisco, Texas.

The new division, Photonis Digital Imaging, will support the company’s recently introduced series of digital sensors and cameras for low-light applications. It will be part of Photonis USA and managed under Gregory W. Bell, president and CEO of the US divisions.

“Over the past few years, we have seen increasing customer demand to create digitally based products that provide portability, connectivity and superior low-light images,” said president and CEO Goossen Boers. “Digital Imaging is opening new adjacent markets for Photonis in areas such as security, surveillance, unmanned systems and situational awareness.”

Photonis Digital Imaging is now manufacturing and shipping digital low-light cameras, and recently announced a partnership to bring better connectivity options to its Nocturn product line. (See: Pleora to Provide Photonis with Embedded Camera Interfaces)
