Martifer Solar of Milan, Italy, the solar energy division of the Martifer Group, has signed an agreement with Sunflower Italy srl to build a photovoltaic power plant near Alessandria in northern Italy. Designed to produce 2.1 MW of power, the facility will produce enough energy to supply approximately 600 four-member households, with CO2 emissions savings of 1256 tons. Construction began in September, and the installation should be connected to the grid by the end of 2010.
