Physical Optics Corp. (POC), dealing in small system integration for military, aerospace, homeland security and avionics markets, announces their 25th year in business serving advanced technology communities. POC, founded in 1985 by Dr. Joanna Jannson and Dr. Tomasz Jannson, began as a small business innovative research and development company focused on holographic technology and laser optics.

“Celebrating our 25th year, we are proud to deliver solutions that ‘make a difference’ to both the warfighter and to the private sector in applied technologies, electro-optic systems, information technology, avionics, wireless communication, software, and advanced sensor systems. Our privately-held company has steadily grown in revenue and personnel each consecutive year as a fully self-funded, employee-owned small business,” said Joanna Jannson, president and CEO. “With consolidated revenues this year topping $45 million, we are delighted to report that POC now employs a total of 225 people, 65 of whom hold PhD degrees. We hold 91 US Patents covering over 40 technologies and have introduced 100 new products to world-wide markets since the company’s inception. During the past 12 months, in an undeniably sluggish economy, POC has created 16 new high level technical jobs.”

POC’s military products have been fielded in 71 Department of Defense and Department of Energy installations. The company’s commercial division now manufactures the FAERITO Digital Video Recorder, a crash-survivable flight recorder, produced to EUROCAE ED-112, Federal Aviation Administration, and European Aviation Safety Agency standards, and integrated into commercial aircraft.

With five buildings and 100,000 sq. ft., POC houses research laboratories, prototyping, demonstration and production facilities. The company has launched 6 spin-off companies.
