Physik Instrumente Acquires P·G·W-Precision Granite W Co. Ltd.

KARLSRUHE, Germany, March 18, 2021 — Precision motion control and nanopositioning equipment developer Physik Instrumente (PI) acquired P·G·W-Precision Granite W Co. Ltd. The acquired company, based in Gifu, Japan, is a manufacturer of high-flatness granite base plates, supporting applications in the semiconductor, life sciences, and industrial automation markets.

The acquisition, PI CEO Markus Spanner said in a press release, strengthens PI’s commitment to growth in markets in Asia. PI in 2020 opened a production plant in China.

Terms of the transaction were not immediately available.
