Plessey Semiconductors will expand its European network thanks to a distribution agreement it has entered with Netherlands-based Alcom Electronics. The agreement covers the circulation of Plessey’s gallium nitride-on-silicon (GaN-on-Si) LED products throughout the Benelux market, which includes Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxemburg. Such products include the MaGIC (Manufactured on GaN-on-Si I/C) high brightness LED technology, which cuts the cost of lighting by using standard silicon manufacturing techniques. “Plessey, being an early adaptor of GaN-on-Si LED technology, will bring Alcom and its customers an extremely competitive, high-quality light source,” said Marcel den Bak, Managing Director of Alcom.
