Power Technology Purchases Klastech

Power Technology Inc. has acquired diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) laser manufacturer Klastech GmbH of Dortmund, Germany.

Klastech DPSS lasers are based on patented intracavity impedance-matched amplification-tuned (iMAT) technology, which uses a complex dual-cavity design that significantly increases second-harmonic conversion efficiency, produces an inherently diffraction-limited output and provides natural frequency-selective performance. The lasers are suitable for metrology, biofluorescence, Raman spectroscopy, semiconductor inspection and holography applications.

Under the acquisition, Power Technology will retain the Klastech organization in its entirety and will work over the next several months to seamlessly integrate both products and employees into its organization. Production and sales of Klastech’s laser line will continue at the Dortmund location.

Power Technology manufactures laser diode products for OEM analytical, biomedical, machine vision and industrial applications.

Glossary
laser cavity
A laser cavity, also known as an optical cavity or resonator, is a fundamental component of a laser system. It is a confined region or space where light undergoes multiple reflections, leading to the amplification of coherent light. The laser cavity consists of mirrors that form the boundaries of the cavity, and it plays a crucial role in sustaining the laser action. Key components and characteristics of a laser cavity include: Mirrors: A laser cavity typically includes two mirrors, one...
machine vision
Machine vision, also known as computer vision or computer sight, refers to the technology that enables machines, typically computers, to interpret and understand visual information from the world, much like the human visual system. It involves the development and application of algorithms and systems that allow machines to acquire, process, analyze, and make decisions based on visual data. Key aspects of machine vision include: Image acquisition: Machine vision systems use various...
metrology
Metrology is the science and practice of measurement. It encompasses the theoretical and practical aspects of measurement, including the development of measurement standards, techniques, and instruments, as well as the application of measurement principles in various fields. The primary objectives of metrology are to ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency in measurements and to establish traceability to recognized standards. Metrology plays a crucial role in science, industry,...
