CRANBURY, N.J., August 26 -- Trumpf Inc. has acquired the component manufacturing assets of Princeton Lightwave Inc. (PLI), and the companies have entered into a strategic partnership.

Under the terms of the agreement, PLI will retain its optoelectronics device design, characterization, reliability testing, fiber optic packaging and application support facilities. PLI will supply research and engineering support services to Trumpf, and Trumpf will manufacture components for PLI.

"In working with PLI, we have access to the leading semiconductor diode-based laser technology, which complements our strengths in gas and solid-state lasers," said Peter Leibinger, chairman and CEO of Trumpf. "The Cranbury, N.J., facility and technical experts are both of world-class caliber."
