Prism Winner Nominated for Edison Award

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Canada, Feb. 15, 2013 — Verisante Technology Inc.’s Aura skin cancer detection device was named a 2013 Edison Awards finalist.

Aura is a novel Raman spectroscopy device designed to aid in the early detection of all forms of skin cancer, including melanoma, and basal and squamous cell carcinoma. The underlying technology has also shown promise in the early detection of other cancers, including lung, cervical and colon. Verisante Technology recently won a Prism Award for the device. The distinguished Edison Awards symbolize the persistence and excellence personified by Thomas Alva Edison; their purpose is to inspire creative minds to remain at the forefront of innovation, creativity and ingenuity in the global economy. Nominees are judged by more than 3000 senior business executives and academics across the nation; their votes acknowledge the finalists’ success in meeting the award criteria of concept, value, delivery and impact.

Award winners will be announced April 25 at the Edison Awards Annual Gala, to be held in Chicago.

raman spectroscopy
That branch of spectroscopy concerned with Raman spectra and used to provide a means of studying pure rotational, pure vibrational and rotation-vibration energy changes in the ground level of molecules. Raman spectroscopy is dependent on the collision of incident light quanta with the molecule, inducing the molecule to undergo the change.
