Prophesee Secures New Investment, Wraps $48M C Series Funding Round

PARIS, Sept. 26, 2022 — Prophesee, a designer of neuromorphic vision systems, closed a €50 million (~$48 million) series C financing round following an investment from Prosperity7 Ventures. Prophesee has raised a total of €127 million in funding, including this latest investment, since its founding in 2014.

Prosperity7 is the diversified growth global fund of Aramco Ventures, a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco. According to Prohesee, the latest investment will support the company as it accelerates the development and commercialization of its next-generation hardware and software products. Prohesee is pursuing business opportunities in semiconductor, industrial, robotics, IoT, and mobile devices ecosystems.

By using neuromorphic techniques to mimic the way human brains and eyes work, Prophesee’s event-based Metavision technology reduces the amount of data needed to capture information. Among the benefits of the sensor and AI technology are ultralow latency, robustness to challenging lighting conditions, energy efficiency, and low data rate.

machine vision
Machine vision, also known as computer vision or computer sight, refers to the technology that enables machines, typically computers, to interpret and understand visual information from the world, much like the human visual system. It involves the development and application of algorithms and systems that allow machines to acquire, process, analyze, and make decisions based on visual data. Key aspects of machine vision include: Image acquisition: Machine vision systems use various...
computer vision
Computer vision enables computers to interpret and make decisions based on visual data, such as images and videos. It involves the development of algorithms, techniques, and systems that enable machines to gain an understanding of the visual world, similar to how humans perceive and interpret visual information. Key aspects and tasks within computer vision include: Image recognition: Identifying and categorizing objects, scenes, or patterns within images. This involves training algorithms...
neuromorphic
Neuromorphic refers to the design and development of computing systems or devices that are inspired by the structure and functioning of the human brain and nervous system. The term is derived from "neuro," meaning relating to the nervous system, and "morphic," referring to form or structure. Neuromorphic computing aims to mimic the parallel processing, connectivity, and energy efficiency observed in biological neural networks. Key characteristics of neuromorphic systems include: Parallel...
