Purchase Contract

Photonics Spectra
Aug 2010
The FBI has awarded a contract to Optra Inc. of Topsfield, Mass., to supply laser event recorders that will be used to fight the laser dazzle problem faced by pilots worldwide. The ultraprecision measurement solutions provider originally developed the technology under a US Navy contract. The recorder can be used in a cockpit to detect a handheld laser pointed in the direction of an aircraft, enabling a pilot to avoid eye contact while simultaneously capturing critical information that can be used to locate, apprehend and prosecute the offender.
