Quintessence Photonics Hires Ed McIntyre as Director of Marketing

Sylmar, Calif.-based Quintessence Photonics Corp. (QPC), a manufacturer of high brightness, high-power semiconductor lasers, announced that Ed McIntyre has joined the company as director of marketing. McIntyre has worked in photonics marketing and sales for over 15 years. Most recently, he served as director of marketing at PD-LD Inc., where he developed applications for high-brightness lasers using external optical components. McIntyre has worked for several laser communications companies, including Ortel Corp., a developer of analog fiber-optic technology for CATV, where he served as director of sales. While at Ortel, Ed worked with QPC co-founder Jeffrey Ungar as the company grew from a California Institute of Technology startup in 1983 until its sale to Lucent Technologies in 2000. QPC said it has recently commercialized its proprietary on-chip high brightness laser technology to produce low cost, rugged lasers for defense, homeland security, medical and industrial markets.
