RVSI Receives Orders for Equipment to Read 2-D Bar Codes

The Acuity CiMatrix Div. of Robotic Vision Systems Inc. (RVSI), based in Nashua, N.H., has received an order valued at $175,000 from an automotive electronics supplier for machine vision equipment to track and trace printed circuit boards. The company's HawkEye 1500 series smart camera readers and DMxVerifier+ direct part mark quality verifiers will be used to read Data Matrix two-dimensional bar codes that encode lot, date and model numbers for electronic automotive parts. This type of bar code is beginning to replace those that are printed on paper labels because it is permanent and can contain the manufacturing history of a board on a few square millimeters, said Ray England, vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for Acuity CiMatrix.

The division also has received a $300,000 order for its Visionscape machine vision equipment for use by a food company in a North American automation program to enhance packaging uniformity in a manufacturing environment.
