ADO, Brillian, OCLI Develop RPTV Engine

SANTA ROSA, Calif., Sept. 30 -- Advanced Digital Optics (ADO), Brillian Corp. and OCLI, a wholly owned subsidiary of JDS Uniphase, announced they have jointly developed a rear-projection television (RPTV) light engine based on Brillian’s LCoS Gen II microdisplay panels and ADO’s UltreX-3 color management kernel. The on-screen contrast ratio of the light engine with panels has reached 2500:1, exceeding the known contrast level achieved with any other liquid-crystal-on-silicon (LCOS) microdisplay technology.
