IR Imaging, AO in Spotlight as 3 Scientists Awarded Nobel Prize in Physics

Laureates Roger Penrose, Reinhard Genzel, and Andrea Ghez have been awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize in physics for discoveries related to black hole formation (Penrose) and of a black hole at the center of the Milky Way (Genzel and Ghez).     adaptive optics
    Adaptive optics (AO) is a technology used to improve the performance of optical systems by reducing the effects of atmospheric distortions. The Earth's atmosphere can cause light passing through it to experience distortions, resulting in image blurring and degradation in various optical applications, such as astronomical observations, laser communications, and imaging systems.
