Blue and red light-sensing photoreceptors can be used to control the carbon flow in diatoms, a major group of algae that generates about one-fourth of the Earth’s oxygen and perform around a quarter of global CO2 assimilation. Researchers from Leipzig University and the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research made the findings, which they said show that cultures pre-acclimated to blue light and red light exhibited similar growth performance, photosynthesis rates and metabolite profiles. The basic two-beam division of amplitude interferometer components consists of a light source, a...Photonics HandbookMicroscopy Illumination: Considering Nonlaser Light Sources: Metal halide and LED light sources are changing the illumination landscape in microscopy. Brighter, easier to use and growing in application, they are driving new options in fluorescence, conventional bright-field and other contrast techniques. As recently as five years ago, shopping for a microscope light source was fairly straightforward. For routine applications, it was tungsten halogen, typically 100 W, while for fluorescence, it was an...Photonics HandbookWHITEPAPERSUsing Imaging Colorimeters to Correct OLED, MicroLED, and Other Emissive Displays for Production Efficiency and YieldsImaging colorimeters can improve OLED and microLED display production by ensuring visual quality of displays — measuring brightness and color uniformity at the pixel and subpixel level to correct...Photonics.com 1/14/2021Spectral Density Contrast in DPSS and ECD Lasers for Quantum and Other Narrow-linewidth ApplicationsWith current endeavours in the UK and around the world to foster the development of new Quantum-based technologies (QT) to sense and detect previously unreachable interactions, such as underground...Photonics.com 1/22/2021Optical Filters and LED IlluminationUnderstanding the interplay of optical filters, microscope light source and fluorophore selection can be a complex task, especially when it comes to multi-channel imaging.
