AHRENSBURG, Germany, Feb. 2, 2011 — Digital industrial camera provider Allied Vision Technologies GmbH has acquired camera manufacturer VDS Vosskühler of Osnabrück, Germany. The acquisition increases AVT’s portfolio with the addition of near-infrared (NIR) and longwave infrared (LWIR) camera technologies, as well as active camera cooling. Incorporated in 1985, VDS specializes in the market segment outside of the visible light in the NIR and LWIR/thermography spectrum. It also develops CCD cameras for visible light, focusing on customer-specific variations for OEMs. Jürgen Vosskühler,...Read full article

    near-infrared camera
A near-infrared (NIR) camera is an imaging device designed to capture images in the near-infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum. The near-infrared spectrum typically extends from about 700 nanometers (nm) to 2500 nm, just beyond the range of visible light. Near-infrared cameras are equipped with sensors that are sensitive to light within this wavelength range, allowing them to detect and record near-infrared radiation. Near-infrared cameras have various applications across different...

    thermography
Thermography is a technique that involves the use of an infrared imaging device, called a thermal camera or infrared camera, to detect and visualize the infrared radiation emitted by objects. This technology allows for the creation of thermographic images, also known as thermograms, where variations in temperature are represented by different colors or shades. The basic principles of thermography are as follows: Infrared radiation emission: All objects with a temperature above absolute zero...
