In 2013, the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO) will take place June 9-14 to accommodate Messe Munich’s decision to change the event date for Laser: World of Photonics 2013. The locale, San Jose, Calif., will remain the same, however. The date change will provide attendees and exhibitors more time between the two industry shows, The Optical Society (OSA) announced. “This change will offer the most benefit to attendees, exhibitors and the optics and photonics community as a whole, while maintaining CLEO’s status as the premier technical conference and exposition in the field of laser science,” said Elizabeth Rogan, CEO of OSA, the managing sponsor of the event. CLEO 2012 will take place May 6-11 in San Jose and will feature more than 1800 technical presentations ranging from basic research to industry applications. The expo will feature more than 300 companies and will include a new Japan Pavilion. Also new is the Technology Playground, a roundup of hands-on production demonstrations from select exhibitors designed to foster one-on-one interaction between companies and attendees. The Market Focus and Tech Transfer programs are on the roster as well. For more information, visit: www.osa.org
