DHS Funds Goodrich THz Spectrometer

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 14, 2006 -- The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded Goodrich Corp. a $1.2 million, one-year contract for the evaluation of a Goodrich terahertz (THz) spectrometer to detect chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals. Successful evaluation of the technology may lead to the development of a system to specifically meet DHS requirements.     A kind of spectrograph in which some form of detector, other than a photographic film, is used to measure the distribution of radiation in a particular wavelength region.
