OmniVision Technologies, a Sunnyvale, Calif., supplier of CMOS image sensors for digital imaging devices, introduced a small-scale CMOS image sensor with five megapixels, the OV5610, at Photokina, a digital imaging exhibition being held this week in Cologne, Germany. OmniVision said although CMOS sensors lead the lower-end segment of the digital still camera (DSC) market because of their cost effectiveness, steady improvements in CMOS image sensors are expected to challenge CCDs in the high-end DSC market.Read full article
