Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless carrier, and Lucent Technologies announced a three-year, $5 billion contract that positions Lucent to become the largest supplier of Verizon Wireless' third-generation, high-speed mobile network infrastructure. Kestrel Solutions Inc. announced the publication of its waveform specification for Optical Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM). The scope of the Optical FDM interface specification describes the physical layer properties of the high-speed optical signal that Kestrel Solutions uses in its patent-pending transmission equipment.
