Drexler Has Record Backlog, New Memory Card Order

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 13 -- Drexler Technology Corp. has received a $7.5 million, one-year contract for its LaserCard optical memory cards, which will be used in US government programs, principally at the U.S./Mexico border. The order raises the firm's 12-month backlog to a record 3.5 million optical memory cards. The US State Department will use two-thirds of the cards ordered for its Laser Visa border-crossing card program in Mexico.
