SAN FRANCISCO, April 28 -- Fabrinet, an engineering and electromechanical manufacturing services company, announced yesterday it will buy JDS Uniphase's manufacturing facilities in Fuzhou, China. Under the terms of the arrangement, Fabrinet will acquire all assets and operations related to the Fuzhou plant, including R&D and the manufacture of products such as crystals and precision optics. The transfer is expected to be completed before June 30, subject to customary conditions. Terms of the agreement were not revealed. JDS Uniphase announced earlier this month that it would divest its...Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaARTICLESNew Ceramic Nanocomposite Demonstrates High IR Transmittance, Thermal StabilityA research team that includes scientists from Russia, Ukraine, and China has developed a Y2O3-MgO fine-grained composite ceramic material that transmits over 70% of light in the infrared (IR) range...Photonics.com 12/27/2019Hyperspectral Stripe Projector Combines 3D, Spectroscopic ImagingA projector capable of making images that elude the capture capabilities of traditional cameras could, when paired with a monochrome sensor array and sophisticated programming, enable 3D spectroscopy...Photonics Spectra December 2020 IssueMachine Learning Predicts How to Develop High-Performing Solar CellsTo determine the best way to optimize the materials used to build perovskite solar cells, a research team at the University of Central Florida turned to machine learning techniques.
