Femtosecond laser approach benefits cataract surgery

Two new studies on the use of femtosecond laser procedures in cataract surgery indicate that they may be safer and more efficient than the standard procedures used today. Employing a femtosecond laser to fragment the existing lens in a patient’s eye has several advantages, according to data presented October 2011 at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) in Orlando.
