Flexible CIGS Solar Cell Delivers 13% Efficiency

ALBANY, N.Y., March 12, 2013 — Magnolia Solar Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Magnolia Solar Corp., has demonstrated a flexible copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) solar cell with a 13 percent efficiency. The CIGS solar cell, made using thin, flexible stainless steel and titanium substrates, was developed and produced by the US Photovoltaic Manufacturing Consortium (PVMC) at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering’s (CNSE) Solar Energy Development Center (SEDC) in Halfmoon. The efficiency rivals that of current photovoltaic technologies, proving that flexible thin-film solar cells are a potential...Read full article
