Moshe Bril, !%Holo-or Ltd.%!

Fractional laser skin treatment, also known as fractional photothermolysis, is a relatively new method of skin rejuvenation in which the targeted areas of the skin are precisely spaced out at a microscopic level. In between, some skin is left perfectly intact while other zones are laser-treated. The effect is visually comparable to pixels in digital images. The small spots of treated skin replace old destroyed cells with new healthy ones, and the untreated areas maintain the tissue’s stability for quicker recovery. Fractional laser skin treatments can use the intense energy of...Read full article

    Glossary
    beam
    1. A bundle of light rays that may be parallel, converging or diverging. 2. A concentrated, unidirectional stream of particles. 3. A concentrated, unidirectional flow of electromagnetic waves.
    beamsplitter
A beamsplitter is an optical device for dividing a beam into two or more separate beams. A simple beamsplitter may be a very thin sheet of glass inserted in the beam at an angle to divert a portion of the beam in a different direction. A more sophisticated type consists of two right-angle prisms cemented together at their hypotenuse faces. The cemented face of one prism is coated, before cementing, with a metallic or dielectric layer having the desired reflecting properties, both in the...
    galvanometer
An instrument for detecting or measuring small electric currents.
    microscope
An instrument consisting essentially of a tube 160 mm long, with an objective lens at the distant end and an eyepiece at the near end. The objective forms a real aerial image of the object in the focal plane of the eyepiece where it is observed by the eye. The overall magnifying power is equal to the linear magnification of the objective multiplied by the magnifying power of the eyepiece. The eyepiece can be replaced by a film to photograph the primary image, or a positive or negative relay...
    pixel
A pixel, short for "picture element," is the smallest controllable element of a digital image or display. It is a fundamental unit that represents a single point in a raster image, which is a grid of pixels arranged in rows and columns. Each pixel contains information about the color and brightness of a specific point in the image. Some points about pixels include: Color and intensity: In a colored image, each pixel typically consists of three color channels: red, green, and blue (RGB). The...
    sapphire
Sapphire can refer to either a gemstone or a specific type of crystalline material commonly used in various industrial applications. Gemstone: Natural sapphire: A natural sapphire is a precious gemstone belonging to the corundum mineral family. Corundum is an aluminum oxide mineral that, when it contains traces of chromium, iron, titanium, or other elements, exhibits a range of colors. Blue is the most traditional and prized color for sapphires, but they can also be found in various hues,...
    splitter
A passive fiber optic coupler that divides light from a single fiber into two or more fiber channels.
