Germanow-Simon Corp., the 96-year-old parent company of G-S Plastic Optics, has completed a one-year, $3.25 million upgrade to its St. Paul Street facility. “The biggest advantage to continuing to use our existing site, and remaining in Rochester, is keeping a team of people in place who work together every day to satisfy the quality and service expectations of our customers,” said president Andy Germanow. The company held a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this month. Courtesy of Germanow-Simon Corp. The renovations included doubling the manufacturing space for injection molding and quality assurance operations, and improving the space’s energy efficiency, functionality and cleanliness. Germanow-Simon said the expansion will help its companies meet customer demands for future expanded production capacity. Germanow-Simon Corp., one of Rochester’s oldest continually operating manufacturing businesses, consists of two operating companies: G-S Plastic Optics and Tel-Tru Manufacturing Co. G-S Plastic Optics manufactures polymer optics for LED illumination systems, and imaging, scanning and detection applications. Tel-Tru Manufacturing supplies transmitters, bimetal thermometers and pressure gauges worldwide. For more information, visit: www.gsoptics.com
