InGaN Quantum-Well Laser Diode Achieves CW Operation

Researchers from Xerox's Palo Alto Research Center in California have demonstrated continuous-wave (CW) operation of InGaN quantum-well laser diodes at room temperature. The quantum wells were grown on sapphire substrates using organic chemical vapor deposition. To achieve CW lasing, the group used a series of conventional ridge waveguide devices with etched mirrors and highly reflective coatings.Read full article
