Infinera Corp. has announced the appointment of Roger Baker, Diana Gowen and Henry Sienkiewicz to its Government Advisory Board. The board was created to add expert perspective on the specific needs of the government sector. Baker served as assistant secretary and chief information officer for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from 2009 to 2013 and the chief information officer for the U.S. Department of Commerce from 1998 to 2001. He was most recently the chief strategy officer for Agilex Technologies Inc., and has held executive positions at large government integrators including roles as executive vice president at CACI International Inc. and as the vice president of IT strategy and the chief information officer at General Dynamics Corp. Gowen is the senior vice president and general manager for the public sector at CenturyLink Inc. She previously served as the leader of CenturyLink Federal and oversaw the execution and development of its solutions for federal government customers. She was the leader of Qwest Government Services Inc. before its acquisition by CenturyLink in 2011. Prior to joining Qwest, Gowen served as the vice president of MCI Government Markets and the president of government solutions for Corvis Group Inc. and Broadwing Communications LLC. She has been recognized by Government Computer News as industry executive of the year, and was twice named to the "Federal 100" by Federal Computer Week. Sienkiewicz is a strategic advisor and author. He was previously a member of the Senior Executive Service, assigned to the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency from 2008 until 2013, where he served in multiple capacities. Sienkiewicz served as the agency's chief information officer for two years and as the designated approving authority for three years. Sienkiewicz introduced the cloud computing model into the U.S. Defense Department in his role as computing services’ technical director. In 2011, he was named one of the “Top 50 Government CIOs” by Information Week and Computerworld’s “Premier 100 Technology Leaders” in 2013.
