Leica Microsystems Acquires Cell Analysis

Leica Microsystems GmbH of Wetzlar, Germany, has acquired Cell Analysis Inc. of Highland Park, Ill. The latter company offers a software system that quantifies the staining in tumor cells to enable pathologists to make precise diagnoses. Leica Microsystems’ Biosystems Div. intends to adapt the imaging software to its product portfolio. The software is used with a microscope in the histopathological work flow following advanced staining.Read full article

    An instrument consisting essentially of a tube 160 mm long, with an objective lens at the distant end and an eyepiece at the near end. The objective forms a real aerial image of the object in the focal plane of the eyepiece where it is observed by the eye. The overall magnifying power is equal to the linear magnification of the objective multiplied by the magnifying power of the eyepiece.
