Meadowlark Optics Acquires Spatial Light Modulator Product Line

FREDERICK, Colo., March 27, 2015 — Meadowlark Optics Inc. has acquired the spatial light modulator (SLM) product line from Cambridge Research & Instrumentation Inc. of Woburn, Mass. The 1 × 128 and 1 × 640-pixel liquid crystal SLMs have been added to Meadowlark’s existing transmissive and reflective SLM product lines. Playing an expanding role in research applications, SLMs are electrically programmable devices that modulate light in a fixed spatial (pixel) pattern. They enable control of the amplitude and phase of light – often ultrafast laser pulses – on a pixel-by-pixel basis...Read full article

    spatial light modulator
A spatial light modulator (SLM) is an optical device that modulates or manipulates the amplitude, phase, or polarization of light in two dimensions, typically in the form of an array. SLMs are versatile tools used in various optical applications, including adaptive optics, optical signal processing, holography, and imaging. There are different types of SLMs, each with its own operating principle: Liquid crystal spatial light modulators (LC-SLM): These SLMs use liquid crystal technology to...
