3D sensing with NIR wavelengths has taken off in the past several years, with use in such applications as facial and gesture recognition, eye tracking, and automotive vision systems such as lidar. The market for these optical sensing systems is projected to see a 22.7 to 24 percent compound annual growth rate, reaching as high as $3.8 billion in total revenues by 20271,2.
