Aixtron AG, a provider of deposition equipment to the semiconductor industry, announced that Taiwan-based LED manufactuer Epistar recently bought five Aixtron gallium nitride (GaN) epitaxy reactors: the AIX 2800G4 planetary reactor with 42 by 2 in. capacity, and four AIX 2600G3 planetary reactors with 24 by 2 in. capacity. After its recent merger with United Epitaxy Co., Epistar became one of the largest LED epi (echo planar imaging)-based manufacturers.
