Optics developer NexOptic Technology Corp. will soon be looking for licensing partners for a patent-pending lens technology. The company said it expects to complete its first proof-of-concept lens prototype in August, with the device geared toward the telescope market. Other applications include cameras, binoculars, computer gaming, graphics, medical imaging and mobile phones. Ideal licensing partners are “leaders in the space” in their respective categories, said Paul McKenzie, president and CEO of NexOptic. NexOptic, formerly Elissa Resources, signed an...Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaARTICLESAIM Photonics to Lead $19M DARPA-Funded Photonics ProgramAIM Photonics (American Institute for Manufacturing Integrated Photonics), part of NY CREATES, announced $19 million in research program awards for advanced integrated photonics research projects....Photonics Spectra February 2021 IssueNSF Grant to Advance Sensing and Imaging Technologies for Precision AgricultureWith a five-year, $26 million grant, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has established the Engineering Research Center for the Internet of Things for Precision Agriculture (ERC IoT4Ag). Resolution, however, is a more complex concept.Camera resolution depends upon the optical blur diameter and the detector size. These articles will provide the tools optics designers need to tailor their designs to the appropriate manufacturing process and to optimize the cost of component fabrication.Aspheric surfaces are powerful tools that combine the optical corrections of multiple lenses into a single element (Figure 1) and affect performance in ways that spherical optics cannot. For example,...Photonics HandbookWHITEPAPERSReplacing Hard to Source and Obsolete Optical ComponentsPeriodically organisations are faced with replacing hard to source or obsolete optical components within their camera, sensor, or instrument systems.
