Nitrogen-Filled Hollow-Core Fiber Moves Laser Spectra to the Infrared

QUEBEC CITY, Oct. 15, 2020 — Researchers from Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS) in Quebec City have introduced a method for tuning a laser’s spectrum to the infrared range. In collaboration with international partners, a team led by Luca Razzari used a hollow-core fiber filled with nitrogen to deliver optical pulses shorter than those delivered by the input laser, and with a high spatial quality.
