Northlight Optronics Acquires Optoelectronic Unit

Northlight Optronics AB of Kista, Sweden, has acquired the optoelectronic component business of Ericsson. The unit, based in Stockholm, Sweden, has expertise in the design and production of fiber optic components for telecommunications. Northlight will build on Ericsson's long-wavelength optical transmitter and receiver technology and will initially produce distributed feedback laser transmitters and high-speed receivers up to 10 Gb/s. Ericsson, which will retain a minority stake in the company, will focus on its core business of providing systems and services for telecommunications operators.Read full article
