Opsens Files to Patent OptoWire

QUEBEC CITY, Jan. 27, 2011 — Fiber optic sensors manufacturer Opsens Inc. announced that it filed a patent application for the OptoWire, a second diagnostic tool to assess coronary lesions by doing Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR). The company’s in-house team developed the OptoWire in parallel with the EasyWire. Also for use in FFR—an index of the functional severity of a coronary stenosis that is calculated from pressure measurements taken before and after a narrowing of the arteries during coronary arteriography—the EasyWire was unveiled in December 2010.
