PV Efficiency Hits 25%

SYDNEY, Australia, October 23, 2008 – There is a new world record in solar cell efficiency. The University of New South Wales’ ARC Photovoltaic Centre of Excellence just broke their previous world record of 24.7 percent by delivering the first silicon solar cell to achieve a 25 percent efficiency rate. A revision of the international standard by which solar cells are measured, has delivered the significant 25 per cent record to the team led by Martin Green and Stuart Wenham, professors at UNSW, widening their lead on the rest of the world. According to Green the new world mark in converting incident sunlight into electricity...Read full article
