Penn State’s Werner Awarded $8M to Advance Engineered Metamaterials Research

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., June 6, 2017 — Doug Werner, John L. and Genevieve H. McCain Chair Professor of Electrical Engineering at Penn State, has been awarded nearly $8 million to continue his pioneering work in metamaterials development from DARPA, the U.S. Navy and Lockheed Martin. Werner, the director of the Computational Electromagnetics and Antennas Research Lab (CEARL), has been at the forefront of the design and application of metamaterials, which can be used in radio frequencies through the optical regime.
