CHICAGO, Sept. 21 -- The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) unveiled today the world's most powerful magnetic resonance imaging machine for human studies, capable of imaging not just the anatomy but metabolism within the brain. Central to the technology is a 9.4-tesla magnet, larger than any other human-sized magnet, built by GE Healthcare. A tesla is a large measuring unit of magnetic strength. "This technological leap forward is as revolutionary to the medical community as the transition from radio to television was for society," said Keith Thulborn, director of the UIC Center for...Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaArticlesQCL-IR Powers Photoacoustic Spectroscopy in Translational MedicineMid-infrared (MIR) optoacoustic spectroscopy is a well-established technique that is currently being leveraged with modern instrumentation to push boundaries in life sciences research and medical...BioPhotonics Sep/Oct 2023 IssuePhotonics Technologies at the Fore as First James Webb Space Telescope Images ReleasedThe first images from the James Webb Space Telescope are being released today, following an initial release of a “teaser” image July 7, and a subsequent preview image released July 11...Photonics.com 7/12/2022ProductsArmD® Specialty Optical FiberExplore the ArmD® Specialty Optical Fiber, Cable, & Assemblies line from Armadillo SIA, customizable to your needs.
