QD Vision Inc. of Watertown, Mass., has been awarded a $900,000, 12-month R&D development contract from DARPA to advance its quantum dot-based infrared materials and to deliver two prototype devices: one with quantum dots as an emissive layer in an electronic device (electroluminescent applications) and the other in a film that is activated by external light sources (photoluminescent applications).
