MCKINNEY, Texas, Oct. 2 -- Raytheon Co. recently delivered 150 light thermal weapon sight (TWS) systems to the US Army, the first installment of 2500 systems that are being produced under the Army's 1998 Thermal Omnibus I contract. The remaining 2350 units will be delivered by December. The TWS product line, jointly developed by the Army and Raytheon, is based on forward-looking infrared (FLIR) technology. The systems enable war fighters to engage targets at any time of day and regardless of weather conditions or other factors that could obscure their view of a battlefield. The advanced thermal imaging sensors are deployed on light, medium and heavy weapons use by the Army, Air Force, Marines and Special Operations.
