What you can’t see can hurt you. Cancer and other diseases can remain undetected until it’s too late. On the other hand, sometimes what you can’t see can help you: Increasingly, photons in nonvisible wavelengths are being used to spot disease, providing a picture that couldn’t be captured otherwise.
