Ultraviolet Device Captures Images of Aurora Borealis

An international probe satellite has sent back images of the aurora borealis captured by a UV imaging device manufactured by Netherlands-based Delft Electronic Products BV. The 20-kg UV imager comprises two cameras, two Earth sensors, a gimbal mechanism, two radiator plates and two electronics boxes. Delft's image intensifier is UV sensitive and amplifies the aurora's UV image. The imager also operates in full sunlight. Aurora borealis captured by a UV imaging device.Read full article
