MUNICH, Germany, Oct. 2, 2008 – According to an international team of scientists, the introduction of fluorescent indicator proteins into the brain light up when neurons are communicating with each other. The team, led by Mazahir Hasan of the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research in Heidelberg, has succeeded in optically detecting individual action potentials in the brains of living animals.
