NEW HAVEN, Conn., Oct. 27, 2006 -- Yale University today announced it has established the Yale Institute for Nanoscience and Quantum Engineering, which it said will unite its six existing research efforts in molecular electronics, quantum information processing, chemistry of soft materials, nanoparticles, photonics, and nanoscale biomedical engineering. An initial investment of $5.5 million will bolster the institute’s infrastructure and initiate seed projects adding to the more than $100 million of funding for these areas of investigation at Yale. The initiative is a part of Yale’s commitment of over $1 billion to...Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaARTICLESPhotothermal Process Irradiates Nanoparticles to Control Cell ActivityUsing nanoparticles as photothermal nanotransducers, scientists at Washington University in St. Louis demonstrated reversible modulation of electrical activity in excitable nerve and heart muscle...BioPhotonics Sep/Oct 2021 IssueLasers Move Diamond Nanoparticles into Bio ApplicationsScientists from Hokkaido University, Osaka Prefecture University, and Osaka University showed the ability to use laser beams of different wavelengths, and from opposing directions, to move diamond...Photonics Spectra June 2021 IssuePotential of Periodic Array System Supports Nanophotonics ApplicationsA research team from the University of New Mexico (UNM) and the Autonomous University of Madrid has applied periodic arrays containing nanoparticles of different sizes — as opposed to more...Photonics Spectra November 2020 IssueModel Guides Precise Formation of Plasmonic ComponentsUsing a real-time mathematical analysis model developed at ITMO University, scientists will now be able to manipulate the process of creating photonic and plasmonic components to produce the precise...Photonics.com 7/22/2020PRODUCTSMixed Signal OscilloscopeThe 6 Series B Mixed Signal Oscilloscope from Tektronix Inc. is designed meet the demand for high-speed data movement and processing in embedded design.
