MARLBOROUGH, Mass., June 20, 2012 — As the new vice president of sales, Scott Riggi will lead all sales activities for Block Engineering’s line of quantum cascade laser products, including its new LaserBench benchtop QCL spectrometer.

Prior to joining the company, Riggi served as director of sales for the Americas at Princeton Instruments, a Roper Industries Co. Before that, he worked at Thermo Fisher’s Scientific Air Quality Instruments Group as its director of sales. He has also worked at Danaher Co. and Cookson Electronics, and has more than 20 years of sales management experience.

“I am very pleased to welcome Scott to Block during this exciting period of accelerated growth,” said CEO Petros Kotidis. “His skills will be critical as Block introduces new products, opens new market opportunities and grows its commercial sales.”

Block Engineering develops QCL and Fourier transform IR spectrometers for chemical detection and analysis for military, government, commercial and industrial customers.

ftir spectrometer
FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) spectrometer is a powerful analytical instrument used to obtain an infrared spectrum of absorption or emission of a solid, liquid, or gas sample. It operates based on the principle of interferometry, specifically Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Here are the key components and functions of an FTIR spectrometer: Source: The FTIR spectrometer typically uses a broadband infrared light source, such as a ceramic heater, globar, or a quartz halogen lamp....
photonics
The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
